Diaspora
A downloadable solo-journaling ttrpg
Diaspora is a rules-lite solo-journaling TTRPG where you become a creature of legend that travellers have brought to a new land. As you explore your new location, you change. You may grow, reconnect, or forget altogether. What does it mean when those around you forget your powers? What does it mean when no one remembers your purpose, not even yourself? Do we have to choose between what we are and what others demand us to be?
"When people move to a land that is new to them,
they always bring more than just objects.
Sometimes, they even bring monsters."
Let the dice tell you where in your real-world location to explore and what will determine your encounters. Use the paper fortune teller to determine what happens to you after the encounter ends.
This game is culture-agnostic and allows for any type of creature, myth, legend, or cryptid to be played. Select attributes to determine a creature's starting powers and let the story morph you as you play.
This Game Requires:
- The Print & Play Pamplet (PDF below)
- The Print & Play Paper Fortune Teller (PDF below)
- A journal (or other note-taking device)
- A writing utensil (or typing apparatus)
- One Six-sided die (1d6)
- Knowledge of Your Real-World Location

Behind the Game
I come from a family of immigrants. As I researched the folklore of both my birth country and the homeland of my family, I found tales of creatures brought by immigrants who came generations before. Much like how I, and many other children of diasporic families, are seen as something between two worlds, these folktales are the same.
My hope with this game is to give people of mixed cultures a game that easily reflects their experiences. I also hope it allows everyone to explore their current area more!
